Idealogical Subversion, Demoralization using “Convenient Useful Idiots”

This video is just as scary as the audio I emailed yesterday.  I feel like I am living through Atlas Shrugged.

This is a video from the 80’s a defected soviet KGB agent is talking about the demoralization of society as a tactical effort to march America toward socialism.

Favorite Quote: “never bother with leftist, forget these political prostitutes”

He references Walter Mondale so I am assuming this was filmed during the presidential race in 1984.  If you remember that year Reagan won 49 states (everyone but Minnesota where Mondale grew up). He was the VP under Jimmy Carter and established the idea of “activist Vice President” (something Dick Cheney has taken to the extreme).

Choose your candidate wisely on Tuesday - As for me I am voting for “none of the above.”

This is poop in your pants funny

So I just wasted about 30 minutes clicking on this site.

Sarah Palin After John McCain dies of old age

I am so tired of politics that if I don’t laugh at everything I will have to cry about it.

Only 19 days left until we don’t have to hear about the campaigns anymore.  I have made one of those paper chains and I tear off a link every day.  November 5th is going to be better than Christmas because the campaigns will finally be over.

Lets Get Political

I hated all of the candidates this year so I had a big idea and I am going for it.

MileBug makes it easy to track your tax-deductible mileage on your iPhone

My Friend Jason just released this new iphone app for tracking tax deductible mileage on your iphone.

As a new iphone user it has been a little frustrating that there aren’t that many great apps. There are however hundreds of really stupid games. I know I know people are still trying to figure it out. As a consultant this one is fantastic. I have 3 businesses I am involved in and I track mileage for each of them (or i have really good intentions that I will track mileage for each of them) At the end of each year my mileage is one of my biggest deductions.

I haven’t actually tried it yet but I have checked out the demo on his website Milebug.com

Or you can buy it straight from the App Store - milebug mileage tracking iphone app

Amazon web services “start-up tour”

Coming to Salt Lake City, September 10, 2008

I signed up, I have been meaning to mess around with AWS for a long time but haven’t had the time. This should shrink the learning curve.

Oh yeah and it’s free! Good for broke entrepreneurs.

My Name is Josh and I am a Twitterholic

This video scared me.  But I have taken that fear and turned it into action and I have made a decision.  I am going to grow a Mustache.

Just a small warning the video uses some 4 letter words.  Not that anyone reads this blog.

Unintended consequences of going green - fixing the problem in the US will ruin the planet

I just read this article and it made me think.

Intel’s former C.E.O. Andy Grove says high-profile plans by Boone Pickens and Al Gore don’t tackle the single most dangerous energy issue facing America.

I like that they point out that Al Gores plan will have zero impact on global warming because if we don’t use the oil somebody else will.

unintended_consequences-300x225 Unintended consequences of going green - fixing the problem in the US will ruin the planet

Chances are it will be used by India and China. Compared to us they have no emissions standards so it might actually make the global environment worse to not have the US using 25% of the worlds oil. It is the law of unintended consequences.

We are starting to see the huge problems with Ethanol - Who knew burning your food was a bad idea? If you are not up on this issue spend a few minutes on the Corn Based Products Guide and then think “wow all of that stuff just got way more expensive”

So most intelligent people agree Ethanol was a bad idea. (You will still see it pushed for a few more years because of politics) So what do we do? What is the solution? Who knows but here are a couple examples.

Solution: Electric Cars
Every Car on the road is either a full electric or a hybrid. This will dramatically cut down on the amount of foreign oil needed reducing gas prices but more importantly improving national security by not giving money to scary countries.

Problem: Batteries
Nasty little things filled with all types of crazy exotic metals and other dangerous mumbo jumbo, you have to figure out a good way to recycle old batteries. The bigger potential problem is sourcing the materials. It always starts with mining and as we know that really messes the place up. The other problem is that US environmentalists will never let us mine those materials here so really we just shift our dependence from scary middle east countries to some other scary place.

Solution:Wind Power
Lots of wonderful jobs for people who didn’t go to enough school. Farmers can make money selling power and we don’t have to burn our food for fuel.

Problem:pray for wind
The wind doesn’t follow energy demand curves. This has to be a backup to something more dependable

So this is what I would do:

Screw the Coal Miners - start building nuclear plants as fast as you can so that electricity is cheaper than sun shine. We will figure out what to do with all of that radioactive waste later.

Everything is a Hybrid Law - yeah batteries are bad but Muslims are really scary. CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) hybrids would be a good solution for now. Oh yeah and they should all plug in because that would save a ton of petrol.

Wind, Solar, Geothermal - They are all nice but until they are cheaper than nukes I don’t want to hear about it.

Doing this would help cut our foreign oil addiction and we would be safer. The planet would still be screwed in the long run. At the danger of sounding ignorant. I am not totally sold on the global warming arguments. I like have clean air and water so I don’t fight the movement but I have major doubts about the “science.”

My blog has really sucked for a while

Many Excuses - but I am repenting and things will be different from now on.

1. Theme - My theme is really generic, the design sucks and makes my content seem really lame. I am going to change it right after this post.

2. Content - I installed this twitter plugin and that really ruined my blog.  Every day it would post as a blog entry all the stupid crap I had posted to twitter throughout the day.  I love and hate twitter.  I really hate it on my blog.  I just turned off the plugin.

3. Neglect - You have to post more than once every 40 days - In fairness I have been posting a couple times a week on my other blogs Sprout Marketing and my new company buzz.io
